Happy New Year!
As a year finishes and we look forward to the next we critic the previous year to determine what worked and did not and then make the changes necessary to become more successful in the following year. 2019 was the year of birthday celebrations, with quite a few parties for people turning 70 years old or more. Enough for us to notice the trend, therefore promoting the hosting of a birthday celebration at The Bradley Inn, especially for a certain age, is in our plan.
The notable parties hosted ranged from a 140-year celebration, twins turning 70, with 25 people to a somewhat larger group of 35 for a 50th celebration to an intimate dinner for 5 for an inn guest turning 75 on a night our restaurant was closed. For parties that are larger we close the restaurant to the public and the entire space becomes available to the group. Typically, we start with cocktails and appetizers in the tavern and on the back decks and then move into the dining room or far side of the tavern for dinner.
One gentleman planned a very special birthday celebration for his wife who was turning 75. He rented the Garden Cottage for a couple of nights, scheduled a massage, ordered a picnic lunch and ended with a special dinner for 5. We started with hors d’oeuvres on the back deck with cocktails then moved into the dining room to the round glass table for dinner. We customized the meal specifically to his request. It was a surprise and his wife was truly overwhelmed by the entire celebration.
